TXT to PDF
To turn a text file into a PDF, drop the .txt file on the box or paste its contents. Every line stays a line, and long lines wrap at the margin. Blank lines and indentation are kept, and a tab becomes spaces. The text is set in 11 point Helvetica. Typed text works the same way.
Plain text from Notepad, a notes app or a log file all work. Files in UTF-8 are read as they are. Older Windows text files (Windows-1252) and Notepad files saved as Unicode (UTF-16) are recognized too, so accents come out right.
Markdown to PDF
To convert Markdown to PDF, drop your .md file or paste the Markdown. MD to PDF starts from the file type, so a .md file is read as Markdown. Pasted Markdown is recognized by its headings, bold text, links or code fences, and you can switch the Format control to Markdown yourself.
- Six heading levels, bold, italic and strikethrough.
- Links that you can click in the PDF.
- Bulleted and numbered lists, nested too, and task lists with check boxes.
- Block quotes, horizontal rules and tables.
- Code blocks and inline code in a monospaced font, without syntax coloring.
- A picture is not loaded. Its description (alt text) is printed instead.
- HTML tags are dropped and their text is kept. Math formulas and footnotes are not supported.
CSV to PDF
To turn a CSV file into a PDF, drop the .csv file or paste the rows. The tool makes one table. The first row is the header. It is bold and repeats at the top of every page. Column widths follow the content, and columns of numbers line up on the right.
Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes are recognized as separators, and quoted cells may contain commas and line breaks. A wide table turns the page to landscape and, if needed, uses smaller text. Long cells wrap inside their column. A table can have up to 20 columns.
What the Text to PDF Converter Does
The converter makes a PDF with real text, not a picture of text. You can select, copy and search it, and the file stays small. Page breaks fall between lines. A table row or a line of code is never cut in half, and a heading stays with the text under it.
There is one font and one layout. You cannot choose a font, text size, margins or colors. Only a CSV table turns the page, Markdown tables do not. The file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded. Limits to know:
- Files up to 5 MB on a computer and 2 MB on a phone. The PDF can have up to 1,000 pages on a computer and 300 pages on a phone.
- Latin letters with accents (Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkish, Vietnamese), Greek and Cyrillic work, plus punctuation, currency signs, arrows, math signs, box-drawing characters, check marks and stars.
- Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Indic scripts and emoji cannot be drawn. They are left out, and the tool tells you how many above the button and again next to the result.
- Western European text uses the standard fonts every PDF reader has. Text with other letters, such as Polish, Czech, Greek or Russian, is set in Noto Sans, an open font that the page loads from filewiseapp.com when it is needed and embeds in the PDF. Your text is never sent anywhere.
- Text that runs right to left is not supported.
Convert Text to PDF With Page Numbers
To convert text to PDF with page numbers, turn on the Page numbers checkbox. It is off at the start. Every page then gets a number like 1 / 12 at the bottom center. Choose Letter or A4 for the paper. Letter is the start in the United States, Canada and Mexico, and A4 is the start elsewhere.
If you need text out of a PDF instead, use PDF to text. For text in a photo, try image to text. Once your PDF is made, you can mark it as a draft with a watermark or give each page an ID with Bates numbering.
On-device OCR. Secure, built for iOS.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert text to PDF?
Type or paste your text in the box, or drop a .txt, .md or .csv file on it. Choose Letter or A4, then press Create PDF. You see a preview of the first page and the page count, and you can download the PDF. It runs in your browser.
How do I convert Markdown to PDF?
Drop your .md file on the box or paste the Markdown, then press Create PDF. Headings, bold, italic, links, lists, task lists, quotes, code and tables are formatted in the PDF. Pictures are not loaded, so their description is printed instead.
Can I turn a CSV file into a PDF?
Yes. Drop the .csv file and it becomes one table. The first row is a bold header that repeats on every page. Numbers line up on the right. A wide table turns the page to landscape. Commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes work as separators, up to 20 columns.
Can I convert a TXT or Notepad file to PDF?
Yes. Drop the .txt file on the box. Every line stays a line, long lines wrap, and blank lines and indentation are kept. UTF-8 files are read as they are. Older Windows files (Windows-1252) and Notepad Unicode files (UTF-16) are recognized too.
Which languages and characters does it support?
Latin letters with accents (Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkish, Vietnamese), Greek and Cyrillic work. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hebrew, Thai, Indic scripts and emoji cannot be drawn. They are left out, and the tool shows how many before you create the PDF.
How big can my file be?
On a computer, a file can be up to 5 MB and the PDF up to 1,000 pages. On a phone, the limits are 2 MB and 300 pages, because a phone browser has less memory. A CSV table can have up to 20 columns.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded. For text with letters beyond Western Europe, the page loads the Noto Sans font from filewiseapp.com, then builds the PDF on your device. Your text is never sent anywhere.
